The Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 are the regulations issued by the Government of India in response to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. These rules divide drugs into schedules and provide requirements for the storage, sale, display and prescribing of each schedule .

The Drugs and Cosmetics Rules of 1945 contain provisions for scheduling drugs, as well as requirements for their storage, sale, display, and prescription. The terms of licenses are set forth in Rule 67. The labeling restrictions can be found in Rule 97.

  • Schedule A: Contains a variety of letter shapes and sizes for licensing and other applications.
  • Schedule B outlines the fees charged by government-run labs.
  • Schedule C: This section covers a variety of organic products[4] as well as their control. Serums, Adrenaline Vitamins and other similar products are examples.
  • Schedule D: List of drugs that are exempt from supplying drug imports.
  • Schedule E is a list of poisons[4] and the laws that apply to it. Sarpa Visha (snake venom), Parada (Mercury), and so on.

Schedule H: Examples include androgenic, anabolic, estrogenic, and progestational drugs, including Xanax, hepatitis B vaccination, Ibuprofen, Vasopressin, and others.

Schedule X: Secobarbital, Glutethimide, and other Schedule X drugs are examples.

Schedule J: This document lists diseases and conditions that are currently untreatable with any drug on the market. No drug has the legal authority to claim to cure these diseases.
